5 Random Netflix Shows You’ll Love to Binge Watch

October 12, 2017

Sometimes a girl just needs to watch six episodes of a TV show in one sitting.

There’s nothing better than bludging on the couch, forging past the show-ending cliff hangers and indulging in a glut of “what happens next” without having to endure the suspense of a week.

Once you’ve smashed Orange is the New Black and House of Cards, you’ll need something to fill those nights when The Bachelorette isn’t on. As a result of dedicated procrastination of housework and refusal to exercise I have compiled this list of lifesavers for your binging pleasure.

GLOW

Based on a true story, GLOW oozes with 80s awesomeness, including bad perms, questionable fashion and cringe worthy slang. The story of the only all-female wrestling circuit that ever existed is the background for juicy tales of girl fights and heartbreak. Betty Gilpin is smokin hot as one of two female leads (#bodygoals), and her counterpart Alison Brie is vulnerable in a way that every woman can relate to.

Misfits

The description of Misfits sounds painful, but the cheeky British humour had me at “I spent my eighth birthday eating meatballs with a known paedophile”. Five teens doing community service are endowed with superpowers after a freak storm, and sh!t hits the fan.

You’ll end up feeling like the characters are your besties, from the irresistibly obnoxious Nathan to warm-hearted but super chav Kelly. Nathan is one of my all time favourite characters, although I want to slap him and kiss him in equal measures.

Friends from College

It took me a while to get into Friends from College, but now I’m in agony waiting for season two. Imperfect man-child Ethan and Fred Savage’s Max have a hyperactive bromance that you’ll love to roll your eyes at. There’s heaps of scandalous drama within the group of six that will have you giggling, cringing and gasping – all symptoms of enjoying a truly binge-worthy show.

Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum is not for everyone, but if you can come to terms with mental main character Tracey you’ll fall in love. Raised in a super Christian household, Tracey is looking to enhance her social activities but doesn’t have the people skills to match… It’s completely nuts and totally London.

Schitt’s Creek

The uber rich Rose family suddenly loses its fortune and Mum, Dad and the kids are forced to move to the tiny backwater town of Schitt’s Creek. The contrast of the ridiculously pretentious Roses and small town life in America is an awesome setting for mayhem and an endless stream of witty rapport. If you love to cringe, this is the show for you.

Emma Lee

Emma Lee is a Brisbane native but lives to travel. She is also a big fan of food, good books and browsing at markets.

Since graduating from Griffith University with a Communications Degree, Emma has put her writing skills to good use in jobs ranging from Media Rep for a rugby team to Marketing Manager for a Japanese ski resort.

Emma dreams of publishing a novel one day and wants to live in a luxury camper van that never stays in one place for longer than a week.
