We may have lost our own Brisbane fashion week, but Sydney has been putting on a show and Brisbane’s own Kia Low was rocking the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia!

Designers, models, fashionistas, photographers and bloggers have flocked to Sydney this May for Australia’s only international fashion platform where Australian and international designers have flaunted their wares and given emerging talent the chance to showcase their collections.

We caught up with the very much in-demand Kia as her amazing week drew to an end.

Q: You have modelled all over the world but is there something different/special about modelling at ‘home’?

A:  It’s much more relaxed modelling in Australia. Because it’s less stressful it’s usually more fun and because it’s a smaller market in Australia, you tend to know the team your working with really well.

Q: What was your highlight of this year’s event?

A: Getting to see all the girls again! Fashion Week gets all the models from all over the world in one city at one given time. I feel like you always make your ‘fashion week friends’ and it’s so cool to see them again.

Q: Is there an outfit you wanted to take home?

A: 100% Bec and Bridge

Q:  Do you still get nervous/a rush before you first walk out there? If so, how do you mentally prepare?

A: I don’t really get nervous anymore but there is such a cool rush backstage before hitting the runway. Everyone’s all dressed and you get to see what your friends are wearing. Photographers are wanting backstage silly photos, and the hair and makeup are rushing around trying to make the final touches. Although stressful at times it’s always a fun environment.
