“She Believed She Could, So She Did!”

July 14, 2017

We are always so supportive of any charity events that come our way, so when Zonta Club of Brisbane City Heart asked us to attend their recent event we were so happy to attend.  The event was sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield and all guests were served champagne and finger food, and there were lots of raffle prizes to be won!  Amongst the room of attendees was a great mix of empowering women, and it was also supported by Steven Johnson, Chairman for the Qld Law Group.

The guest speaker was Olympian Sailor, Ashley Stoddart who competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, in the women’s Laser Radial.  Ashley is only 24 years old and was so engaging, captivating and motivating as she spoke about her hurdles, challenges and failures.   With every bit of motivation and determination to continue and strive to be the absolute best, she believed she could, so she did!  With her strong attitude and love of her sport, she was placed 9th in the 2016 Olympics.   Ashley is studying Physiotherapy as well as training long enduring sessions as she prepares for the next Olympics. We absolutely loved her passion and enthusiasm and look forward to following her journey in the lead up to the next games.

The Zonta Club of City Heart is headed up by the Dynamic Duo, Amena Reza & Lisa Newman (pictured below with Ashley) and it is all about empowering women through service and advocacy.  These ladies are constantly active in the community, and to find out more information about this great cause and to find out more about their upcoming events visit here!
