In the pink!

June 20, 2016

Sadly a staggering 15,600 women in the past 12 months have been diagnosed with breast cancer, that's 42 women every single day

This past week we’ve put the pink on for Mater Chicks in Pink; we’ve put our pinkies out while we sipped tea at the She High Tea and we were in the pink at the Country Music Muster chatting to James Blundell. Here’s our report!

You’re the Breast – Mater Chicks in Pink

Everyone was busting a move for a good cause!

We were thrilled to be “Breastfriend BAMbassadors” for the Mater Chicks in Pink Bust a Move event held at the Royal International Convention Centre, Brisbane Showgrounds.

For six sparkly hours on Saturday 18 June, we shaked, shimmied and jumped all in the name of helping women with breast cancer.

Bust a Move organisers were delighted by the support and reported this was their biggest event to date.

A total of $142,064 was raised and the top fundraiser, Tits in a Tangle (pictured right) raised a whopping $13,236.  Funds raised will now go towards support services including house cleaning vouchers, counselling appointments and mastectomy bras.

The room looked BAMtastic – there was a photo booth, massage areas, nail studio, beauty salon and merchandise on offer.

Mater Chicks in Pink had everything covered including deodorant, hair ties, wipes and perfume in the toilets.

We can’t wait to support this worthy foundation at their next event. With love from your Breastfriends!

We literally leapt from the bushes to interview James!

We had a ‘quickie’ in the bushes with James Blundell – OMG! That sounds like a song title!

Did you spot us amongst the 400 people (give or take a few) at the second annual Rotary Fun Day and Country Music Muster at Jubilee Park, Beaudesert?

There was entertainment for everyone and some of Australia’s most established country music artists were in attendance, including none other than legend James Blundell who headlined the event.

We were lucky to grab a quickie in the bush with James to find out what and who has mentored and inspired him throughout his career. Catch it here.

His most successful album was This Road released in 1992 and can you believe it sold more than 145,000 copies in Australia? Add to this, he has written songs for other Australian music legends, Slim Dusty and Lee Kernaghan – the man is talented!

With the amazing Jessica Holbrok

The other stand out for us on the day was 15-year-old Jessica Holbrok (Jennifer’s niece – so proud), who we tip to be the next Taylor Swift (of course).   Jessica is a singer/song writer with 30+ original songs already under her belt – yep, she’s 15.

Jessica was also in the lead role of Dorothy in the BAMS theatre production, Wizard of Oz.  She is a regular performer at many clubs, fetes, markets and restaurants. Check Jessica out at her Facebook page and watch out for this rising star!

We had a fabulous day filled with entertainment, great food, coffees and our absolute favourite candles Tranquil Moments. Check them out – we have a Chanel no. 5 burning at the moment!

On Sunday we attended the inaugural She High Tea and met some amazing ladies, drank bubbly and nibbled daintly on finger sandwiches and scones!

We split our time between speaking on the panel debating some tricky questions, and presenting the Brazilian Beauty ‘Most Glamorous Award’ … such a good field to pick from.

Check out the photo gallery and read about the winners of the in the She High Tea report.

And of course we dressed up for the occasion – no encouragement needed. This event was sold out at 80 ladies, so if you missed out, look out for the next event coming soon – a She lunch in November!”
