A weekend of hotshots

August 22, 2016

Of course we had to get in the spirit of the event … don’t say we’re not good sports!

HOTSHOTS ON STAGE

Phew, if we ever needed cooling down it was after last weekend. It started innocently enough … we decided to finish the week in style by sipping on expertly crafted cocktails at our favourite local sophisticated venue, Chadwicks Bar & Lounge at Carina Leagues Club.

Those Hotshot men!
Those Hotshot men!

But, Friday night was a very different night to what we had planned, as Chadwicks had the Sydney Hotshots Male Revue show in house, and the venue was filled with screaming women and a few screaming men too!

Of course we had to get in the spirit of the event … don’t say we’re not good sports!

The men entertained the packed-out crowd with dance moves that looked like they came straight from Manpower meets Magic Mike!

There were games, competitions, and some lucky ladies were called up on stage for some up-close and personal attention and photo opportunities at the end of the show (yes, one of us was called up … guess who?)

Now, having done our research first hand, we can advise that the Sydney Hotshots are the perfect entertainment for hen’s nights, birthdays or just a great fun get together. Check out their website. No, don’t thank us, reporting is part of our job!

Of course, if you just want a quiet night, Chadwicks offers six contemporary lounge booths for small group celebrations and corporate drinks.  Check it out – here.

Renowned as one of the most luxe events of the season, Polo Los Loosa took place on Saturday 20 August at the Doomben Polo Fields, amongst the Bedouin tents and the open fields.

Following their hugely successful inaugural event last year, it was again the most fashionable event of the polo season, and was filled with some of the State’s well-known models, sports stars, business identities and media personalities in attendance.

Belinda MacPherson (pictured right) Fundraising Chairperson of The Courier-Mail Children’s Fund invited us to attend as fundraising volunteers, and we were delighted to participate in such a worthwhile cause.  We sold raffle tickets and did our best to raise awareness for the Children’s Fund which aims to:

  • Raise money to fund equipment that will help sick and disadvantaged children throughout Queensland; and,
  • Recognise and support the needs of large and small charitable organisations throughout Queensland in city, regional and remote areas.

After the raffle was drawn and the amazing prizes were handed out to the lucky winners, we did indulge just a little. A few sips of champagne, a few bites at the canapés and we relaxed in the luxe boho garden setting.

Then we were treated to the thrilling spectacle of the polo – a packed out event with more than four hundred in attendance. The polo was hot, the champagne was cold, and a stunning menu was designed by renowned chef  Alastair McLeod’s Al’FreshCo catering service. Alastair was there serving up and mingling with all the guests. He explained to us how the food was cooked and his passion and wit was infectious!

We tapped along to the up tempo DJ beats from the DJ sisters KIN – Stephanie and Natalia Lampante.

Event founder Chris Reid has had a long history in the polo arena, and organised a successful and professional day with some of Australia’s best polo players competing which made for compelling viewing. Of course, we all had to stomp on the divots just like in “Pretty Woman” the movie – it’s a tradition.

We had so much fun with such a glamorous crowd – all the ladies donning their most stunning outfits, showcasing the bohemian chic theme with lots of white, lace and bright colours on show, and the boys went all out and looked most dapper.  We can’t wait for next year!
