Read All About It With Kindergo

October 23, 2017

Thousands of children across Australia will next month take part in a nationwide introduction of an innovative new storytelling app designed to help them learn and improve their reading abilities.

The Kindergo app, launched earlier this month in Brisbane, is offering cash prizes in it’s PowerUp Reading Competition, with early learning centres and primary schools across Australia invited to participate.

The interactive platform enables teachers and parents to introduce digital learning to children and to foster a love of reading.

Aimed at children aged 2 – 7 the app is designed so that a child can independently operate the app and explore scores of specially curated books alone or with help.

There are three specific applications – Read To Me, Read Together and Tap and Hear, where children can develop his or her reading skills on their own.

Crafted by world-class educators and award winning animators, the app also features a parent portal, which helps give them insight on their child’s progress as they read their favourite books and track how they are progressing through the app.

The PowerUp competition will be judged on which school or early learning centre clocks the highest number of reading hours during November.

The app has the ability to track reading hours inside and outside of school with an online leader board viewable to all competing schools.

Cash prizes of $1000, $500 and $250 will be offered to winning schools.

Queenslander Dimity Powell, author of such children’s books as The Fix-It Man, Zoo-thology and Short and Twisted stories and poems with a twist 2017, said that the PowerUp reading competition will help children reach into stories to connect with characters and to hopefully spark their imagination.

“I think competitions like this one will empower kids to read. Having accessibility to different styles of story and different levels of storytelling is great for kids,” she explained.
