Hawaii Missile Threat

While it might sound like something from a horror movie, Hawaiian residents were terrified as they gathered family members and ran out onto the streets, desperately seeking shelter as they awaited the attack. Social media was filled with accounts from horrified Hawaiians, sharing how frantic they were during those 38 minutes.

Many have been left asking why it took so long for emergency management to reveal it was a false alarm, with some residents only finding out it was sent in error because of a tweet sent in the interim by US Representative Tulsi Gabbard.

A revised alert informing of the “false alarm” did not reach mobile phones until about 40 minutes after the first warning was sent.

Jessica Falkholt

Home and Away actor Jessica Falkholt died in hospital following a horror Boxing Day car crash.

The 29-year-old had been in a critical condition in St George Hospital after being pulled from the wreckage on December 26 on the NSW South Coast along with her 21-year-old sister Annabelle, who later died.

Jessica’s life support was switched off six days ago and she died on Wednesday morning, a week after a funeral was held in Sydney for her sister and parents.

Aziz Ansari

The prominent actor and comedian Aziz Ansari was accused of sexual misconduct after a 23 year old photographer spoke to babe.net. Detailing how she felt uncomfortable and constantly expressed verbal and non-verbal clues. Aziz responded with this statement,

“In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual.

“The next day, I got a text from her saying that although ‘it may have seemed okay,’ upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said.

“I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.” – Aziz Ansari

Chrissy Teigen Fronts $100K

Model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen has offered to pay the $100,000 fine faced by Olympic gold-medal-winning gymnast McKayla Maroney if she speaks about abuse by disgraced USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar.

In a lawsuit filed last month, Maroney alleges that USA Gymanstics paid her to keep quiet about the team’s long-time doctor, with her lawyers arguing that the organisation’s effort to keep her quiet is “an immoral and illegal attempt to silence a victim of child sexual abuse.”

Kim Kardashian

On a much lighter note, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have welcomed baby number three into their family.

Kim announced it on her app saying that “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl. We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

The baby girl was born January 15th at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed 3.3kg, Kim added.

The couple conceived their third child with the use of a surrogate, after complications when Kim was pregnant with Saint West.
