Capturing Your Unique Style – L’Adore & Co

July 3, 2017

I have always found the fashions from L’Adore & Co on – trend, affordable and wearable so when I heard they were holding a Winter Styling Event I grabbed my shopping buddy and headed along. We were treated to the latest looks for the season, advice on how to style the trends, a goody bag full of samples and some lovely bubbles and canapés. Owners- Kim and Helen are locals so they know what works for the Brisbane climate and for their local ladies. Kylie and Helen were our models for the evening. Kim was our host offering fashion tips and outlining trends for the season. They were ably assisted by fashion stylist, Ally.

Here are some of their top fashion tips for the winter season:

  1. Kim advised us to pick elements of trends mixed with your classic pieces. The most important element to your outfit is the base layer, as in Brisbane we are always peeling off layers. Basics such as jeans , pencil skirts, striped tops and white shirts should be in every woman’s wardrobe.
  2. Chokers are huge this season and also into spring and summer. If you didn’t wear a choker the first time around now’s your chance. L’adore & Co have a great selection of chokers. Black, denim, animal print and cool tied chokers are all on trend and great for updating a simple look.
  3. Short military jackets and biker jackets are the go-to jackets for this season. They come in a range of colours -best colours for this winter are black, tan and my favourite blush pink. The blush pink is so versatile. You can use it as a neutral and it suits most colourings.
  4. Long line vests and cardigans with or without sleeves are big for winter. They can elongate your body and are a great way to style your winter outfits. Kylie modelled several in black, grey and tan and all looked fabulous.
  5. I am happy to report that the statement sleeve is here to stay. Bell sleeves, flute sleeves and ruffled sleeves are right on trend, even in knitwear. A stunning black velvet and lace bell sleeved blouse may just have come home to live with me.
  6. Spots are everywhere- on blouses, dresses and knitwear. Metallic spots look great on knitwear of every colour. Navy and white spot or grey and white spot swing tops look fresh and fabulous for weekend wear.
  7. Helen and Kim told the crowd of excited ladies that on- trend colours for the season are pink (particularly blush pink), grey, burgundy, mustard and shades of olive or khaki green.

It was great to be able to see outfits styled professionally showing off the latest trends for winter. Helen and Kim have already been buying up big for spring / summer as well and told us the off the shoulder and cold shoulder trends in tops, as well as even more chokers, will still be big next season.

Many local boutiques are now holding styling events or season launches so look out for one near you. They are a great way to provide wardrobe inspiration and to highlight any gaps you may have in your existing wardrobe. Right, I’m off to buy some black wet look jeans and maybe a choker (or two)  to stay on trend and complete my winter wardrobe.
